Senior eCommerce Developer/Tech Lead Job Description
Your role as a full-time, remote Senior eCommerce Developer/Technical Lead is pivotal in developing and optimizing online B2C and B2B stores on the Magento/Adobe Commerce and BigCommerce platforms. The position requires balancing, planning, and executing multiple projects and successfully guiding and reviewing other members of the technical team through all phases of the project’s development cycle including project setup, programming, testing, and launch. Successfully interacting with leadership and project managers to closely monitor project development and budgets is essential.
Your skills will be instrumental in building custom solutions and integrations aimed at improving user engagement, boosting conversion rates, and streamlining retail operations. Key Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with project managers and clients to understand requirements and participate in planning the execution of the website development roadmap.
- Responsible for providing our customers with proactive, strategic and operational technical guidance and consultation to solve complex problems
- Help maintain and optimize our customer’s technical ecosystem.
- Provide platform configuration support as needed.
- Act as mentor to develop, enhance, and optimize online stores, ensuring a seamless, responsive, fast loading user experience.
- Implement custom themes and modify existing templates to reflect the brand's aesthetic and functional requirements.
- Develop custom apps and extensions
- Develop and integrate custom apps and third-party applications to extend store functionality.
- Migrate websites from other eCommerce platforms to Magento/Adobe Commerce or BigCommerce including data migration.
- Collaborate with the UX/UI team to translate visual concepts into functional online experiences.
- Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
- Submit pull requests (PRs), conduct code reviews, testing, and debugging to maintain high-quality code standards.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, platform updates and advancements, and e-commerce best practices to suggest and implement improvements and mentor other team members
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working in a dynamic, timeline-driven agency environment.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in eCommerce development, with at least 3 years focusing on Magento and BigCommerce.
- Experience with both B2C and B2B eCommerce features, tools, and best practices, and customer journeys.
- Understanding of the Magento admin dashboard including store and catalog configurations and settings.
- Ability to upgrade and migrate Magento web stores, test and deploy Magento security patches.
- Implement and customize Magento extensions and develop custom Magento extensions.
- Proficient with standards compliant HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Proficiency in developing, debugging and optimizing PHP.
- Experience with front-end JavaScript frameworks (React, Next.js, etc.).
- 5+ years of MySQL or other relational database experience
- Familiarity with responsive and adaptive design principles, load speed, and core web vitals.
- Experience with cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.
- Familiarity with using Git to create branches, submit code changes, and draft pull requests for the technical lead to code review.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Exceptional attention to detail and highly organized with excellent logical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills with both technical and non-technical team members.
Other PLUS Experience
- Adobe Magento certification(s) preferred.
- BigCommerce BigDev certification preferred.
- Hands-on experience with BigCommerce Enterprise.
- Demonstrated knowledge of BigCommerce APIs, the Stencil framework, REST APIs, GraphQL, and developing custom BigCommerce themes.
