eCommerce Project Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled eCommerce Project Manager with exceptional written and verbal communication skills, a strong presence in client interactions, and prior experience managing eCommerce websites for clients across multiple verticals. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in an agency environment, with expertise in Adobe Commerce, BigCommerce, and other eCommerce platforms.
As a Project Manager, you lead and oversee the successful execution of eCommerce projects for a diverse range of your own dedicated client projects. In this dynamic role, you'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative ecommerce solutions that drive business growth. You serve as the client's main point of contact, providing regular updates on project status, addressing any concerns, and ensuring overall client satisfaction. As a strategic problem-solver, you identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to keep projects on track. Additionally, you'll manage project budgets, timelines, and scope to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the successful implementation of new eCommerce and support projects.
- Manage multiple client accounts, ranging in project size and complexity, serving as the primary point of contact and ensuring the successful execution of projects and tasks.
- Overall accountability for project profit and management of client budget.
- Regularly review project budget reports and dashboards, implementing necessary changes to ensure alignment with project objectives and financial targets.
- Track project budgets, timelines, and manage team resources, proactively addressing any issues or concerns. Monitor and measure project progress and activities to identify and communicate status, potential issues, risks, or problems in a timely fashion and provide corrective action and resolution.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, fostering trust and collaboration.
- Control quality by conducting thorough reviews of all client deliverables. Ensure all deliverables meet client expectations and gain final approval for satisfactory acceptance.
- Communicate effectively with business stakeholders, managers, development teams, and other relevant parties to ensure a shared understanding of requirements and project progress. Provide regular updates on requirements status, risks, and issues.
- Follow and help develop company SOPs to contribute to the delivery of consistent customer service.
- Collaborate with Client Success to identify upsell opportunities, develop eCommerce roadmaps, and expand client relationships.
- Proactively recommend and implement eCommerce optimizations and enhancements.
- Demonstrate attention to detail, leveraging experience in quality assurance (QA) and testing for eCommerce websites to address issues effectively. You will carefully test all completed tickets before client delivery and deployment, ensuring optimal performance and functionality.
- Participate in multiple early morning deployments per month, ensuring smooth and efficient implementation.
- Work with project Tech Leads and Technical Operations Manager to manage 3 to 5 website deployments per month, usually starting between 5 or 6am and 8am EST. Your role is to work with the Tech Lead to ensure a smooth and efficient implementation, communicating the plan, expectations, and status to clients. Run through general post-launch checklists and testing.
Skills Required
- Possesses experience and comprehensive understanding of eCommerce, platforms, tech partners and solutions. Ideally Magento and BigCommerce.
- General business understanding of B2C and B2B eCommerce ecosystems and processes, including core supporting business applications such as ERP, POS, WMS, and PIM.
- Ability to multi-task and handle often unexpected distractions.
- Excellent problem-solving ability.
- Demonstrated leadership, relationship-building, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to deliver positive and/or difficult news or updates to clients or team members, tactfully, respectfully, and professionally.
- Cross-functional team and people management skills.
- Ability to translate between and communicate with both technical and non-technical people.
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, presentation).
- Coaching, mentoring, conflict resolution, and negotiation abilities.
- Experience with the migration of eCommerce websites from one platform to another is a plus.
