Senior BigCommerce Developer Job Description
Your role as a full-time, remote Senior BigCommerce Developer is pivotal in developing and optimizing online B2C and B2B stores on the BigCommerce platform. Your specialized skills will be instrumental in building custom solutions and integrations aimed at improving user engagement, boosting conversion rates, and streamlining retail operations. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be key to delivering top-tier, scalable, and innovative eCommerce solutions, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budgetary constraints.

Key Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with project managers and clients to understand requirements and participate in planning the execution of the website development roadmap.
- Responsible for providing our customers with proactive, strategic and operational technical guidance and consultation.
- Help maintain and optimize our customer’s technical ecosystem.
- Provide platform configuration support as needed.
- Act as mentor to develop, enhance, and optimize BigCommerce stores, ensuring a seamless, responsive, fast loading user experience.
- Implement custom themes and modify existing templates to reflect the brand's aesthetic and functional requirements.
- Develop and integrate custom apps and third-party applications to extend store functionality.
- Migrate websites from other eCommerce platforms to BigCommerce including data migration.
- Collaborate with the UX/UI team to translate visual concepts into functional online experiences.
- Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
- Submit pull requests (PRs), conduct code reviews, testing, and debugging to maintain high-quality code standards.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, BigCommerce updates, and e-commerce best practices to suggest and implement improvements and mentor other team members.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in eCommerce web development, with at least 3 years focusing on BigCommerce development.
- Experience with both B2C and B2B eCommerce features, tools, and best practices, and customer journeys.
- Hands-on experience with BigCommerce Enterprise.
- Proficient with standards compliant HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Experience with front-end JavaScript frameworks (React, Next.js, etc).
- Demonstrated knowledge of BigCommerce APIs, the Stencil framework, REST APIs, GraphQL, and developing custom BigCommerce themes.
- Familiarity with responsive and adaptive design principles, load speed, and core web vitals.
- Experience with cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.
- Familiarity with using Git to create branches, submit code changes, and draft pull requests for the technical lead to code review.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Exceptional attention to detail and highly organized with excellent logical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills with both technical and non-technical team members.

- Ability to work our core hours between 9:30 AM and 3:30 PM Eastern Time.
- Enthusiastic about learning, mentoring, and researching.
- Ability to follow project plans & tasks assigned to each client to deliver the promised service each month.
- Experience working with Magento (nice to have but not required for the role).
